This is Ayurveda. Ayurveda is a holistic approach to our lifestyle, mind, body and spirit. Managing ourselves and our energy is central to living a healthy, well balanced abundant life in all areas of what we do. One of the most intriguing things about life is we overlook one critical fact and that to get whatever we want out of life, our job, health, relationships, money, etc we have to be willing to make sacrifices and learn to manage ourselves and our energy; that is develop the art of self discipline. This is a bit of an old fashioned concept in the 21st century, an oldie but a goodie. Once we become more disciplined in what we do and think we can choose our behaviour, choose how we feel and choose how we think. The way to to develop self discipline also requires that we manage out energy. Energy is an essential component. But more on that topic in another article. Right now you may be thinking, really? Read on.
There are many ways to begin change from creating time management strategies to managing your energy. But which one is best for you. One of the key skills to develop is the Art of Self Reflection. It requires work.
What is Self Reflection?
Self reflection simply means we observe ourselves to better understand why we do the things we do. Next we think about what we are doing and compare it with what we actually would like to be doing. We identify the gap between those two and set to work doing something about it. What can we do about it? Many people do not invest enough time in this activity believing it is okay to go with the flow, but consequences of those actions may not actually be what we want.
So what can be done?
Where do we search for the right knowledge that will help us make a difference to our lives? Thinking about the impacts of our actions, interacting with the world, then reflecting what we can and can’t do about that and making informed choices. this is called Freedom. Many successful people in life develop this skill. It is one you can develop too.
In this article we are going to talk about reflecting on your Elementary Strengths and Weaknesses. Now you probably won’t know the answers to some of these questions below because it requires being honest and objective about yourself. As you answer the following questions you may find it helpful to get assistance from a good friend or family when you start:

- What do you want from your job right now?
- What are your job’s major goals?

Setting Goals
While some people do set goals others don’t. Often they don’t know where to start or what is involved.
This 3 Step Guide for Creating Goals will give you tips to help you get started.
1. What do you want for your Job?
It can be hard to define exactly what you want from our job. Many people get frustrated and confused as they haven’t spent enough time evaluating what they do, and what they can do to change their circumstances.
So what do you want from your Job Goals? If you want satisfaction, , define what ‘satisfaction’ means for you. Do you want to create a career, not just a job? Define the type of work that interests you most?
Write it down and get a clear idea of what it is you really want from your job.
2. Set Smaller Goals
When we tackle change often we want to do and get everything right away. To get started it is smarter to break goals down into smaller manageable ones while maintaining focus on the overall goal. Evidence shows that we build resilience by taking one step at a time.
Break down the steps that you plan will help you reach your job goals and don’t forget to set a deadline for your goals. Achieving goals without a deadline fritters away your time. So set a realistic time frame and get started.
How Motivated are You Really?
Have you chosen the right job goals for the right reasons? Many people choose goals that are not in line with their interests. This could be because workplace, colleagues, society, family may be placing pressure on you to do something different from what you really want.
It takes perseverance and commitment to reach your job goals, so check whether you are doing them for your own reasons? If not, what do you need to do differently? Write it down
3. Surround Yourself with People who Want the Best for You
Have you ever wondered whether all the people you know have your interests at heart?
While working towards your job goals if you are surrounded by some distracting, unsupportive people this will delay progress on your path to health. There is no need to create more obstacles in your life. If someone or something is making it harder to achieve your goals minimise their impact on your life and give yourself the support you deserve.
Make space and time to self reflect on your job goals and be guided by the steps above.
